Into the Wind - YA Fantasy

When farm animals throughout the country become deathly ill, the Molin's farm is threatened. A militant group posing as scientists claims a widespread infectious disease is spreading to the human population. In the chaos that ensues, Violet Molin finds herself alone and on the run with her favorite horse, Amletta, who shows signs of the illness. Desperate for a cure, Violet listens to Ramblin' Stan the Junkman, the town tramp. He tells her she must crossover to the Spheres for her horse to survive. "Whistle into the red wind," he says. For the average person, this may seem like an easy enough task. For seventeen-year-old Violet Molin it is almost impossible. As a partial rod achromat, she doesn't see colors. In fact, her visual acuity, particularly in light, is very poor. Plus, she thinks Stanley St. John's talk about other planes is crazy. When her life is threatened, she travels Into the Wind and the true adventure begins.
